Peterborough City Rowing Club is the ideal club to learn to row at with the advantage of a purpose-built rowing course providing a safe environment in which to start. The club has boats specifically designed for beginners and has qualified coaches.
The club caters for beginners by running courses which are specifically for those who have not rowed before. These courses give a thorough introduction and the only pre-requisite is ability to swim. At the end of the course you will be encouraged to join the club and continue in the sport.
Stable Boats for Beginners
The club owns boats that have greater stability than racing boats and are designed to help beginners. These are used initially but people are moved into racing boats by the end of the course.
There are two teams of coaches who run these courses, one for adults and another for juniors (under 16′s). Courses are run during the Spring and Summer subject to demand.
Adult’s Learning to Row
The club runs several Learn 2 Row courses for adults through out the year with places allocated on a first come first serve basis. The course currently costs £100 and last for 8 roughly 2 hour sessions. If you decide to the club at the end of your time on a Learn 2 Row course (and we certainly hope you will!) a deduction is made from your fees for the year.
If you’d like more details on the Adult Learn 2 Row course please contact the Adult Beginners Coach directly or if you’ve decided the course is for you then express your interest using the online form below and we’ll be in touch.

Juniors (under 16s) Learning to Row
Peterborough City Rowing Club has a thriving junior squad and as such it is nearly always at capacity and we have to maintain a waiting list of candidates wishing to join. If your child would like to Learn to Row then please contact the Junior Co-ordinator directly who will happily discuss any queries with you.
We do have a policy on how we recruit into our junior section which can be accessed below.
