Junior Squad News
02 Feb - Junior Inter-Regional Regatta- Trials 4 March 2012
This event is a great opportunity to compete against the best juniors in the country on an International 6 lane course. All J14-J16 are encouraged to put themselves forwards for selection. It would be good to have a large team from PCRC representing the region.
Trials to compete as part of the Eastern Region team will be held at PCRC on 4th March 2012.Any J14 - J16 athlete with aspirations of rowing in the regional team should ensure they inform their coach so that they are entered.
Trials will be in single sculls for all, with composite or club crews formed from the best performing athletes.
The event itself will be run at Nottingham Water Sports Centre, on Saturday April 28th anyone selected will need to be available for that date.

16 Jan - Peterborough Head - Junior entries
PLEASE NOTE:
At this event, the organisers, deliberately don't offer racing for younger juniors, because of the risk of bad conditions, strong head winds etc. We also limit the entry of younger juniors into older events by saying that "no entries from J14 or younger boys or J15 or younger girls will be accepted". This is to avoid the situation of weaker youngsters having to be rescued down at the house because they are not strong enough to cope - conditions can be very rough sometimes!
Actual poster wording is:
"Coaches, crews and scullers should ensure that they have a sufficient level of competency for this event particularly as there is a possibility of adverse weather in February. No entries from J14 or younger men or J15 or younger women will be accepted. "
The regatta committee will NOT make exceptions for PCRC crews, and Club coaches have to abide by these rules to ensure the safety of athletes and the smooth running of the event.

18 Dec - Junior Captains 2011/12 season
After discussion the coaching team have selected 2 captains for this season, one male and one female.
These are James Marshall and Holly McFarlane.
The main responsibilities of the role are:-
• To assist the juniors coaching/management team
• To liaise between athletes and the management team
• To organise and take responsibility for social activities of the Junior Section e.g. junior parties.
• To organise the junior helpers for home regatta's eg. Stakeboat rota.
Their first task will be the organisation of the Juniors Christmas party.

Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond our control - weather, lack of entries in categories we enter, availability of transport or other athletes etc. - we cannot guarantee that any particular junior will be attending specific events.
Coaches will endeavor to give 2 weeks prior notice of crew selection and likelihood of entry into any event.
