British Indoor Rowing Championships

The Junior squad has a great day at the British Indoor Rowing Championships with six gold medals (five team and one individual) breaking two Championship records in the process, with two silver medals (one team and one individual) and an individual bronze medal.

Bradley Bucknell racing at Junior 12 broke the Championship record when he rowed 568m in 2 minutes, beating James Lannigan from Plymstock School by 28m, with fellow Peterborough rower Faizan Shah finishing third with 526m. Bradley and Faizan then won gold in the team event with Max Rippon and Jake Langham finishing their 500m race in 2 mins 1.5secs, five seconds ahead of the KES A team from Stratford-upon-Avon.

James Marshall missed out on gold in his Junior 14 event by just 1m over the 4 minutes row. He was beaten into silver by Oliver Knight from Walton who rowed 1199m.  He still went home with gold though, as part of the Junior 14 team event with Matt Hart, Harry Veal-Gray and Daniel Richardson.  They finished their 750m race in 2 mins 38 secs, four seconds ahead of the Beans on Toast team from Warrington.

Peterborough shone in the team events with the Women's Junior 12 girls team of Aimee Parker, Amy Whitehead, Abbie Jessop and Melissa Ozmen breaking the Championship record to finish 500m in 2 mins 10 secs, 1 second ahead of silver placed St Peters/St Josephs from Stoke.

Meghan Lawless, Gemma Titchmarsh, Georgia Swain and Paige Phillips won the Women's Junior 15 girls event finishing the 1000m in 3 mins 53 secs, two and a half seconds faster than silver medallists Warrington RC.

The boys also won gold in the Junior 11 event when the team of Robert Baile, Archie Benson, Alex Slater and William Coulson won their 500m event in 2 mins 17.5 secs, six and a half seconds ahead of Sutherland Boys from Stoke.

In the Junior 16 team event Aaron Taylor, Jake Lunn, Adam Fox and Daniel Boyle took silver in 3 mins 20 secs against an impressive Cardiff City RC crew who set a new Championship record of 3 mins 13.4 secs.
